From the newbiest of newbies. I have two curves, developed separately, that I want to join. I control clicked the segments to eliminate the adjoining strokes. I have tried dragging one of the nodes to its corresponding node above or below it; that does not work.

Both upper and lower curves are on the same layer. What is the proper way to join them? Any ideas greatly appreciated. Assuming the upper and lower are each a single curve, not a curves. In this case the easiest way is to click on both layers in the layer panel, click on Join curves and then on Close curves. The Join curves will select the node from each that is the closest. In this case that is obvious that either the right 2 or the left 2 will be selected and it doesn't matter which.

If there is ambiguity or you only want a specified set connected then select the 2 nodes you want joined. The Close curves will close the start node with the end node on a curve. So no selection other than the layer is required. For me, it has never made any difference if I select any nodes or not -- it has always joined the nodes nearest each other.

But I just retested this using the 1. Affinity Photo 1. Both of the curves were on the same layer, The top and the bottom would select together, but the fill and the stroke were not connected.

I kept trying things, and then the fill color went from the bottom part to the top part and then I was able to click the nodes and get the strokes to connect. I used to be pretty proficient with the pen tool in illustrator, but affinity is different enough that I feel like I'm mowing the grass with a power mower that I don't know how to start….
